BIOGRAPHY OF HAZRATH SYED KHWAJA BANDA NAWAZ GESU DARAAZ(Raliallahutalaanhu)
He was born on 4th Rajab 721 Hijri in Delhi. He was a descendant of Imaam Zainul aabideen (Raliallahutalaanhu).His name was Muhammad and also patronymic was Abul Fatah and Gesu daraaz was his title. Among the scholars he was popular as Sheik Abul Fatah Sadruddeen wali-e – Akbar Saadiq but he is familiarly known in India as SYED KHWAJA BANDA NAWAZ GAISU DARAAZ (Raliallahutalaanhu)).He was a famous Sufi Saint who advocated understanding, tolerance and harmony among the people.
CHILDHOOD AND EARLY EDUCATION
His father Hazrath Syed Yousuf who was a holy figure and a devotee of Hazrath Nizaamuddin auliya always stressed the importance of education. From his childhood he was inclined towards religion and spent time in meditation and prayers. The first teacher of Khwaja Banda Nawaz was his father. After his death his maternal grandfather took the responsibility for his education and taught him so many books. He also memorized the Holy Quran completely from another teacher.
BAIATH AND SUCCESSORSHIP
Hazrath Khwaja Banda Nawaz was a Mureed (disciple) of the great noted Saint of Delhi, Sheik ul Islam Hazrath Nasiruddeen Chirag Dehelvi whom he loved very much. He became his Murid on 16 Rajab 736 Hijri along with his brother Syed Chunun Hussaini and Later on 15 of Ramadhan 757 Hijri Khwaja sahib was bestowed with the Khilaafath from Hazrath Chiraag Dehelvi just few days before his demise.
